Skin makes up about 16 percent of our body weight.

Skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin. Skin color can range from very pale to very dark, depending on how much melanin the body makes.

Everyone has the same amount of cells that produce melanin, which is made in the outer layer of the skin called the epidermis; but not everyone produces the same amount.

The more melanin your body produces, the darker your skin.

Your skin regenerates itself. “Your skin sheds its dead skin cells on a daily basis, creating a new layer of skin every 28 days,” Bank says. “Even while you sleep, Mother Nature is doing her job by making sure your skin exfoliates itself, without your help.”

That said, dead skin cells can remain on the skin, so it is important to remove them with an additional exfoliator.

A great agent or natural ingredient as an exfoliator is lemon. Lemons are a great source of calcium, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium -- minerals and antioxidants that improve the appearance and condition of our hair, skin and nails.

So we present to you the three awesome methods of using lemons you should know.

Method 1: Pure Lemon Juice

Take a small bowl and squeeze a lemon juice.
Dip in the cotton ball on it then shield the area where you have acne with the cotton ball.
The lemon juice should start to dry for about 2-3 minutes.
Rinse it with water then pat your face with a towel.
You can do this treatment 2 times a day every day.

Method 2: Slice of a Lemon Juice

Slice the lemon into pieces and then spread them all over your face.
Let them absorb for about 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing your face with warm water.
Also you can try to make a face pack using lemon juice, honey and rice flour and apply to your face.
Let it stay for around 15 minutes. You can also try to add a bit of water.
Then rinse it off well with water.

Method 3: Lemon and egg white mask

Break on egg then separate the yolk from the white.
Mix the white egg with 2 tablespoon of lemon juice then whisk it well.
Separate the mixture in 3 parts.
Apply the first coating on your face and leave it for a while.
Then put the second part of the mixture, wait for some time.
Then apply the last part of the mixture. Leave and let it dry.
When it is completely dry, wash the area with plenty of water. Pat the skin with a cotton towel.

Important Tips:

Keep in mind that lemon juice should not be left on the body for extended periods of time and may have severe reactions when exposed to the sun. Always consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.
